For the second year, Amazing Grace is stepping away from the usual lectionary readings for Season of Creation. The Season of Creation is an alternative lectionary cycle that focuses on God as Creator, and has a strong emphasis on environmental stewardship. We are among a small handful of congregations across the ELCA that are trying this. This year the themes are: Ocean, Fauna, Storm, and Cosmos. We'll look at a few familiar Bible stories while intentionally thinking about God's role (and ours) in the natural world.
Amazing Grace will be offering a Life After Loss Group beginning Wednesday, September 22 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. It will meet at this time for six Wednesdays through October 27. The group will be facilitated by Rev. Darwin Huartson, an ELCA pastor and hospice chaplain. Pastor Paul Bailie will also be present in the group.
If you would like to know more you can contact the church office at 210-679-7800. You can reserve a space, or feel free to simply join us on September 22.
We're starting a new worship opportunity with a bilingual service on the last Saturday of every month at 5:30 p.m. It includes music (guitar-led), scripture, and a sermon, with parts in both English and Spanish. Every Christian is invited to receive the sacrament of Holy Communion.
Amazing Grace is a site for Angel Food Ministries, an organization dedicated to providing food relief and financial support. Orders may be made online or at the church the first two weeks of the month (Saturday 3-5:30 p.m. or Sunday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.). Pickup is the fourth Sunday of the month from 7:30-8:30 a.m. Contact Jan Dorey (jdorey@satx.rr.com) for more info.
